Some weekends feel like pure survival mode—keeping the kids entertained just enough to avoid meltdowns. But every now and then, we pull off a successful parenting weekend. One where the kids have an absolute blast, everyone makes it out in one piece, and we feel (almost) like we have this whole parenting thing figured out.
This was one of those weekends. Arcades, bounce houses, bumper cars, and even a DIY slime-making adventure. We’re exhausted, but the kids are happy, and honestly, that’s a win in our book.
And if you follow @thetiredcouple on Instagram, you already know we captured every chaotic, sugar-fueled moment.
The Ultimate Kid Paradise: Arcades, Bounce Houses & Bumper Cars
We kicked things off with a trip to what can only be described as a child’s dream come true and a parent’s cardio workout—an arcade with an inflatable bounce house, a giant indoor playground, and bumper cars.
🏃♂️ Step 1: The Bounce House Challenge – Our kids ran, jumped, and collided with other tiny humans at full speed for what felt like hours. It was pure, chaotic energy. We were basically referees making sure no one got launched into space.
🎮 Step 2: The Arcade Hustle – The kids took control of the arcade, darting between games, collecting an absurd number of prize tickets, and somehow never choosing the one game that costs just one token.
🚗 Step 3: Bumper Cars & Sibling Rivalry – Nothing says family bonding like strapping your kids into tiny vehicles and letting them crash into each other at full speed. The laughter? Priceless. The whiplash? TBD.
By the time we left, our kids were sweaty, sticky (from what, we’re still unsure), and clutching handfuls of questionable plastic prizes that somehow cost $40 in game tokens.
DIY Slime: Because We Love Messes, Apparently
As if our day wasn’t eventful enough, we made the bold decision to take our kids to a DIY slime-making studio.
If you’ve never done this, here’s a quick summary:
- Step 1: The kids pick colors and mix-ins. (Glitter? Beads? Why not both?)
- Step 2: They stir, stretch, and somehow get slime everywhere except the actual container.
- Step 3: You go home with a neon-colored, sticky mess that will inevitably get stuck to the carpet.
The kids? Thrilled.
Us? Questioning everything.
But hey, their faces lit up when they made their own slime, and that’s what matters. Right?
Another Weekend in the Books
By Sunday night, the kids were exhausted, sticky, and 100% convinced this was the best weekend ever. And honestly, that’s all we can ask for.
Did we collapse on the couch afterward? Yes.
Would we do it again? …Probably.
