Back from Paradise: Our Family Trip to Club Med Punta Cana

Tropical Image

(Spoiler: We Already Want to Go Back)

We’re home. The suitcases are half-unpacked, the laundry pile is threatening to unionize, and the kids are still talking about the beach. That’s how you know a trip was good.

Our return to Club Med Punta Cana was everything we hoped for—and then some. If you’ve been following along on @thetiredcouple, you’ve seen the sun-kissed snapshots.

So here it is: the full recap of our family vacation in paradise. From upgraded resort features to parent “me time,” here’s what made this trip one for the books (and the blog).

Familiar, But Even Better

There’s something magical about going back to a place you already love—especially with little ones in tow. Last year, Club Med Punta Cana gave us the relaxing-yet-kid-friendly vacation we didn’t know was possible. This year? It felt like coming home… if your home had unlimited mango smoothies and someone else made your bed.

Knowing the layout, routines, and even the best shady spots by the pool made things smoother from the jump. No Googling “how do you get to the buffet with a stroller?” this time around.

The New Perks: Yes, Please

Club Med stepped up their game this year with some amazing upgrades. First, the refreshed family suites gave us a little more breathing room (translation: fewer 6 a.m. wake-up calls from toddlers crawling over us in bed). The newly renovated Mini Club Med was also a huge win. The kids were obsessed with the pirate-themed play zone, and we were obsessed with the 90 glorious minutes of adult time it bought us.

The Kids: Living Their Best Lives

Between the splash pad, the main pool, and digging endless holes in the sand, the kids were in their absolute element. Even meals were a win—Club Med somehow made buffet dining with kids feel manageable. Chicken nuggets? Check. Pasta? Always. That dessert bar? A core memory.

If you saw our stories, you already know our youngest developed a full-blown love affair with the resort’s mini donuts.

The Parents: Almost Relaxed

Let’s be honest, “relaxing” on a family vacation is different than pre-kid vacations. But Club Med Punta Cana came pretty close. Between the kids’ club and generous nap windows (bless), we actually read a book. Not all the way through, but chapters were read. Lounge chairs were lounged in. Tropical drinks were consumed. It counts.

Also, huge shoutout to us for remembering to pack our HOTWAVE Push-Up Board. Having this foldable workout gear in our suitcase made quick, low-impact workouts actually doable while on vacation. It was easy to use in the room before breakfast—and we felt 10x better for sneaking in some movement. You can see our attempts (and toddler interruptions) on @thetiredcouple.

The Best Moments (and the Real Ones)

There were postcard-worthy moments, like watching the sunset with sand between our toes and dancing with the kids at the evening family events. But there were also toddler meltdowns over the color of pool towels.

That’s the beauty of family vacations. The highs are higher (beach giggles, sibling hugs, the perfect mojito) and the chaos… well, it comes with the territory. But we wouldn’t trade it.

Until Next Time, Club Med

We came home sun-kissed, a little sand-covered, and totally grateful for the memories we made. If you’re considering a trip to Club Med Punta Cana, take this as your sign to GO. It’s a family paradise with just enough built-in rest for exhausted parents like us.

We’ll be sharing more reels, tips, and packing recaps on @thetiredcouple in the coming weeks.

Thanks for following along. Now if someone could unpack our last suitcase, that would be great…
