Spring break is around the corner, and if you’re anything like us over at The Tired Couple, you’re already wondering how to fit your entire house into one suitcase. Traveling with young kids (ours are 3 and 6) is basically like moving the circus—but with more snacks and fewer trained animals. So, when we packed up for our spring break trip to Florida to visit the grandparents, we knew preparation would be key to survival. And Instagram-worthy smiles. Let’s break down the must-have items that saved our sanity and actually made this trip feel like a vacation (sort of).
This little gem deserves its own award. The Kindle Fire 10 Kids Edition kept both kids entertained on the flight, in the car, and during those “rest times” we attempted while visiting the grandparents. With parental controls, content filters, and no ads, we didn’t worry once about what they were watching. Total win.
If screen time isn’t the move, the Toniebox is a must. It’s screen-free, portable, and our kids love choosing a character to pop on and listen to stories and songs. Great for winding down at night or calming the chaos in the hotel room. Good battery life for when you’re on the move.
Because someone always falls or gets a weird rash. Always. This compact first aid kit stayed in the diaper bag and covered everything from scraped knees to mystery bug bites.
4. Collapsible Snack Cups + Endless Snacks
Snack time is survival time. We brought these collapsible snack cups and filled them with goldfish, raisins, and whatever else we could grab. Bonus: they don’t spill when thrown across the back seat. Ask us how we know.
5. Noise-Cancelling Headphones (For Us)
The real MVPs. These noise-cancelling headphones helped us block out the chaos on the plane, in the hotel, and yes, even at grandma’s house when all four cousins decided it was scream-o-clock. There are so many options. However, I’ve been using JLab for years and have nothing but good things to say.
